Rock Your Vote on Super Tuesday with a T-Shirt OurWorldToday
Posted Feb 05, 2008 by Trish Smith Comments [0]

Today is Super Tuesday, the day in which a large number of U.S. states hold their presidential primaries to see which candidates will go head-to-head for the coveted position of President of the United States of America.

As a young person involved in world issues it's important to choose not only the best leader for our nation, but also to pick someone who has the passion that is needed to tackle environmental issues such as global warming. One eco-friendly way that you can get other students aware of environmental initiatives and to also vote in the election is to wear an organic “Vote” shirt by the Be Present company.

The Shirt

The shirt is a 100% organic cotton tee with the words “Vote” written on the front. A cool thing about it is that the “om” sign replaces the “o” in the word. Om is a sacred symbol in Hinduism that represents the past, present and future in spiritual harmony. It goes beyond worldly affairs and extends to the entire universe.

So, you’re basically telling others to vote for the candidate who will achieve the universal goals that we thought were unreachable…like less oil and more renewable energy!

You can check out the shirts here.

The Company

Be Present is a family-owned business that creates clothing for people involved in yoga, as well as any other active sport. The company uses organic fabrics and follows environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes, and they even donate a portion of their proceeds to local and global charities.

The Change

You’d be amazed at how one simple motion, like wearing a t-shirt, can start a powerful buzz in your surrounding community. If you can get just one person to ask you about the shirt, then you can tell them about how it’s eco-friendly and also about the importance of voting in the upcoming election!

If you’re not registered to vote then you need to do it right now! You can register and get all the latest youth-oriented news about the election at MTV’s Rock the Vote website.
