Honda Civic GX Natural Gas Car Tops Green List EcoLifestyle
Posted Mar 17, 2008 by Trish Smith Comments [1]

For the eighth year in a row, Honda has received the number one ranking for being the “greenest vehicle of the year,” as recognized by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of energy efficiency.

This is the fifth year that the Honda Civic GX Natural Gas Car has taken the top position, but that’s because it’s 90% cleaner and greener than any other vehicle on the market!

Why the Civic GX is #1

One of the best things about this natural-gas powered car is that it has the same aerodynamic exterior as the regular Civic, but it also fights greenhouse gas emissions at the same time!

Here are the top green features of the car:

  • Powered by clean, natural gas
  • Has a compressed natural-gas fuel tank (which cuts off the flow of gas when the engine is turned off)
  • Achieves 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg for highway driving
  • Uses “Drive-by-Wire” technology (an electronic sensor sends signals to the Powertrain Control Module, which is the “brain” of the engine)
  • It is an Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV), which means that it has zero-evaporative emissions and carries a 15-year/150,000-mile warranty on emissions equipment.

The ACEEE measured all the vehicles on their list by comparing fuel economy, health-related pollution impacts and global warming emissions, so if the Honda GX could win this five years in a row, this car MUST be one of the best green vehicles out there!

Honda has always had a good reputation for long-lasting, reliable cars. Their eco-friendly vehicles have just taken the next step up to outperform their traditional models.

I highly suggest that you check out this cool natural-gas vehicle, and don’t forget to click here to read about how you could be eligible to receive an alternative motor vehicle tax credit!

So WHERE are the natural gas stations in north OC CA? I'm in a condo so home fueling is not an option.
