It looks like North Carolina Community Colleges are looking for ways to go green, so they’ve developed a new initiative called “Code Green.”

This environmental initiative, which involves over 58 colleges, will not only identify green jobs, but it will also help colleges and companies infuse green practices into their programs.
Why go green?
One of the biggest reasons why NC Community Colleges want to go for green is the need for a green collar workforce. One student, Jeremy Rushlow, moved from Michigan to Chatham County, North Carolina just to become part of the sustainable technology programs taught at the Chatham County campus of Central Carolina Community College. The college also offers a degree in sustainable agriculture.
Everyone realizes how important a green collar workforce will be in the upcoming years, so it’s important to educate students about ways to go green with our automobiles, construction and home heating.
