The internet has truly become the quickest and most advanced way to share news, to stay in contact with friends and to discover new ways to live your life. For those of us practicing an eco-lifestyle, the internet has provided countless opportunities to advance our green projects and to share our environmental concerns.

Care 2 is one of the best ‘green’ sites that I’ve ever stumbled upon because it incorporates so many eco-friendly and globally-conscious things at once: social networking, news, shopping, donations, dating, blogs and much more. It allows you to connect with people around the world and support their causes, while at the same time letting them know about yours.

Share with the World

This site has so much information to take in that you’ll need to pace yourself when perusing through it. To give you an idea of how much Care2 offers on the site, here are a few of my favorite features:

• My Care2: Sign up for an account to create your own personalized page, join over 13,000 unique groups, upload pictures and meet new people. Other users can send you kudos or stars whenever they see that you’ve contributed to the community, and you can return the favor to your favorite take-action friends.
• Click to Donate: This page has a list of worthy causes, from fighting breast cancer, carbon offsetting and rainforest protection to saving baby seals and ending violence against women. A simple click sends a donation to the cause’for free!
• News Network: Learn about the latest environmental, political, entertainment, science and business news here. You can even submit an article that you think is worthy to share, and if others ‘note’ it you can get more stars to recognize your contributions.
• Green Living: Offers everything you need to know about living a green lifestyle, including food recipes, how to raise your family in an eco-friendly way, where to adopt pets, green modes of transportation, how to volunteer and how to keep your body healthy.
• Petitions: You can either create your own petition and pass it along to other Care2 members to sign, or you can choose from a list of petitions that range from personal family issues to catastrophic world events. If the petition successfully accomplishes its goal, you’ll be notified from the sender.

MySpace and Facebook offer, in my opinion, some of the best possible ways to meet other college students and green organizations around the world that you may never meet in person.

Social networking is all about sharing your cause, so with these pages we can spread the GSU word by giving others access to our website and our best blogs. But to be honest, the best part about joining these websites is that we are able to meet other students, groups and companies that care about the environment.
